A former prof of mine told me this story before I went to visit Boston (he and his wife loved that city). About a century ago, there was a rich old lady who lived just past the Boston Gardens. And every day, she'd put on one of those beanie caps with the little spinning thing on the top? and take her pet tiger -- pet. tiger. -- for a walk (she put it on a leash) through the Gardens and around the Commons.
True story (as far as I know). Also, google "toygers" -- folks are breeding housecats to look like like tigers. Cute, but creepy.
